How To Steam

The first step in your journey towards mind body spirit healing is developing a practice. Everyday you should do something that serves your spirit, your higher self-- meditation, exercise, yoga, create. This herbal steam is not just for your physical wellness. Each type of plant contains ancient wisdom meant to nourish our bodies and provide us with the healing we seek. We invite you to create a ritual around steaming.

As with any other ritual, our elders teach us that it is necessary to expel inner toxins before cleansing off outer ones. To prepare for your steam it is recommended to eat light meals, and refrain from sex & alcohol.

As you pour the leaves into your pot of water set an intention. Breathe in the aroma and send your breath to the place in your body that needs healing. If you take the time to listen, you will realize that the healing you need is within.

• Preparing Steam
  • Bring a pot of 8 cups of water to a boil
  • Place 1/4 cup dried into the water and turn down flame so that the herbs simmer for 10 minutes.
  • For a concentrated formula scoop herbal blend into a small sauce pot filled with boiling water reduce flame and let simmer for about 30-45 minutes. Pour reduced liquid into tub straining the herbs.
  • Remove from flame.

• Sitting for Steam

  • Remove your underwear and sit on the edge of a low seat or on your knees above the steaming water (be sure steam is not too hot before your begin).

  • Drape a sheet around you waist or wear a long skirt to making sure no steam escapes.

• Steaming

  • We recommend steaming for no longer than 30 minutes. For beginners, start with 5 minutes at a time, being mindful of emotional release.
