In 2012, Seiko took electronic watchmaking to a new level with the Astron GPS Solar, which connects to the Global Positioning System (GPS) and adjusts to every time zone* while generating all the energy it needs from light alone. In keeping with the traditions of the Astron collection retaining multiple functions and state-of-the-art technology, and to mark 110 years of watchmaking excellence, this dynamic new fourth-generation Astron looks to the future while acknowledging Seiko's impressive past with a sleek, yet dynamic new faceted design.

Strong and distinctive, with its perfectly sculpted octagonal bezel, this dynamic Limited Edition, available only in a controlled-production run of 800, combines solid tailoring with the highest degree of accuracy possible in a wristwatch. Powered by Seiko’s new GPS solar caliber 3X62, with the improved receiver sensitivity required by the metallic bezel, this exceptional watch is GPS controlled for high-speed time and time zone adjustment to 39 time zones, and includes an in-flight mode and perpetual date calendar correct to the year 2100. To ensure smooth operation, the watch is equipped with a signal reception result indicator and power save function. The solar cell is powered by light energy, with no battery change required, and offers a 6-month power reserve when fully charged. The white dial features a multi-function indicator subdial for easy mode reference, as well as blue and red accents, sharp and highly visible three-dimensional applied indices, and LumiBrite hands and markers. Crafted of light and durable titanium, with a super-hard coating for added endurance, this superb timepiece also offers a sapphire crystal with super-clear coating, secure screwdown caseback, and a dark brown sustainable leather strap, certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG), with tri-fold push button release clasp

This new Astron has a dynamic presence thanks to the dimensional case and the faceted bezel with hairline finishing on top, which contrasts with the polished sides. The case lines flow seamlessly through the lugs to an integrated bracelet that has a sharp design that matches the angular case to give the watches a refined appearance. This bracelet tapers neatly toward the clasp, reinforcing its harmonious and graceful look. The titanium case and bracelet have a scratch-resistant super-hard coating, and thanks to titanium’s light weight and the case’s low center of gravity, the watches sit comfortably on the wrist.
