ICON Artworks is proud to pay tribute to Kansas State University athletics with our officially licensed WILLIE the WILDCAT Desktop Sculpture! A perfect gift for K-State students, alumni, faculty and fans alike! GO CATS!!
Originally known as the "Aggies," the term "Wildcats" was first adopted for Kansas State University athletic teams in 1915 when football coach "Jawn" Bender called his players wildcats after they fought to a 0-0 tie with Missouri. The iconic Willie the Wildcat logo was first introduced in the early 1960's and remains the official KSU mascot today.
ICON Artworks Cast Pewter is handcrafted by our team of skilled artisans with an antique finish in the highest quality, lead-free Fine Pewter alloy used for sculpture. Though not considered a "precious metal" like platinum, gold, and silver, pewter is a very valuable alloy used since the Bronze Age because of its lustrous silver finish, its malleability, durability and its ability to capture incredibly fine detail. Pewter does not rust or deteriorate and can be enjoyed for generations.
