For Acoustic location of plastic pipes and Metallic Pipes

Plastic pipes cannot be located by conventional electromagnetic means because they are not electroconductive. A different principle is applied when locating pipes using the acoustic method: The pipes transmit mechanical vibrations better than the earth that surrounds them. When the pipe is caused to vibrate appropriately, these vibrations spread along the pipe to the earth's surface where they can be picked up by a ground microphone. In the same way as water leaks are detected by acoustic means, the pipeline is located where the intensity is greatest. This method can also be used to locate fiber cement (AC/Transite) pipes and metal pipes.

FERROPHON® – FG 155 C generator

Start with the Generator/Transmitter with programmable frequencies which works with most any brand metallic pipe locator receiver. Add the Striker to locate 2" and smaller non-metallic and plastic pipe, and/or the Stropper to locate water main. You can also add a UT-9100 metallic and tracer wire receiver to have a complete underground pipe & Cable location system.  

Suitable for universal use

The FG 155 C generator can be used to locate pipes using electromagnetic and acoustic methods.

It can be used to directly or indirectly energize electro-conductive pipes. With an output of up to 50 W, it is ideal for extreme locating ranges. Thanks to the strong performance parameters, the FG 155 C generator perfectly complements all receivers from the UT 9200/9100/930, FERROPHON® and UtiliTrac systems.

To locate plastic pipes acoustically, the generator controls an oscillator in the COMBIPHON® system or optionally the tapper or stopper. Pipes that are made to vibrate by the Striker or Stopper can then be located with the help of a receiver and ground microphone. For this task combining the AQUAPHON® A 200 receiver, TS 200 carrying rod und BM 200 or BM 230 ground microphone is recommended. The benefits of the FERROPHON® FG 155 C

The COMBIPHON^® system consists of the Generator G5 central control unit and various impulse generators, so it can be used anywhere. Stoppers or Knockers are used to generate noises on the line which can then be acoustically detected by the AQUAPHON® or AquaTest T10 acoustic detection systems.
