The 2nd Ranger Infantry Company was a notable all-African American unit that served in the Korean War as a scouting and special operations force for the U.S. 7th Infantry Division from December 1950 until it was disbanded in August 1951. As part of the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team, the unit performed a daring combat jump into Musan-ni during Operation Tomahawk, but faced heavy combat, equipment shortages, and untrained replacements due to the racial policies of the time. Despite these challenges, the company achieved a distinguished combat record, earning numerous awards and contributing to the history of the U.S. Army's Ranger Regiment and integration.
