The collaboration between the Working Group "Soils and Geomedicine" of International Society of Soil Science and the geomedical committee of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters has continued, and a result is the arrangement of an international symposium 30.11.-1.12.1995. This symposium took place in the house of the Academy in Oslo, and had the title "Chemical data of plant, animal and human tissues as a basis of geomedical investigations".

After the world congress of ISSS in 1994 the Working Group has following members: J. Låg, Norway (chairman), E. Steinnes, Norway, (deputy chairman) and J. Deckers, Belgium (secretary). The members of the geomedical committee of the Academy have been (deputies in brackets): fessor B. Bølviken, Trondheim (Professor E. Steinnes, Trondheim), Doctor E. Holmsen, Oslo (secretary), (Chief Doctor B. Welle, Oslo), Pro fessor 0.H. Iversen, Oslo, (Professor B. Waaler, Oslo), professor J. Låg, As (chairman), (Profes sor H. Bergseth, As), Professor 0. Sandvik, Oslo, (Director B. Næss, Oslo), Professor K. Westlund, Oslo (deputy chairman), (and Chief Doctor J. Aaseth, Kongsvinger). The Academy has in the period 1980-1994 issued 9 books as results of geomedical symposia.
